If you use Apple’s iPad as your primary communication device, then you’re likely using iMessage to communicate with friends and family. But if you want to stop using iMessage, there are a few steps you can take to do so. First, open the Settings app and select the General tab. Under the “Privacy” section, select “iMessage.” Then click on the “Delete” button. Once you’ve deleted iMessage from your iPad, it won’t be available to you anymore. If you wish to stop receiving text messages on your iPad, do it only on that device. Settings > Messages > Send and Receive > uncheck email and phone number in Send and Receive. That’s all there is to it.

When a Wi-Fi network is accessible, the iMessage is transmitted via that connection. When a Wi-Fi network isn’t accessible, the iMessage is sent over cellular data. If you exceed your monthly data limit on a regular basis, you may want to turn off iMessage to save money on mobile usage.

Make sure to turn off iMessage if you switch from an iPhone to an Android phone. If you don’t, messages sent by iPhones will not be received on your new Android device.
