If you’re using the iPhone to use Google Duo, there are a few steps you can take to remove it from your device.

  1. Open the Settings app and select the General tab.
  2. Scroll down and select the iCloud section.
  3. Toggle off Duo and Apple Watch support for the phone.
  4. Select Remove All Content and Settings from iCloud on the left hand side of the screen, and press Delete to confirm your deletion.

Go to the Duo website on your Android device. Select More Settings. Account. Delete your Duo account by tapping Delete.

The magic is made possible by Google Play Services, a background Android program known as Google Play Services. The technology allows certain fundamental elements of an app to operate as if they were part of Android, allowing you to contact individuals regardless of what messaging apps they have installed.

The two are based on WebRTC, a specification that enables voice, video, and peer-to-peer file sharing without the need for any additional plugins or applications. Your video chats are fully encrypted, so you can rest assured that no one is spying on you.

If you delete a sent Duo message before the recipient has had a chance to see it, it will not be unsent. The message may still be viewed by the individual. Only your end of the transaction will be affected.

Only deleting your Duo account can eradicate all links between it and your phone number or Google Account. Only Delete may be used to delete your Duo account on an iOS device.
