If you have a Mac, there are a few things you can do to help protect your account and regain access to it if it is lost or stolen.

  1. Create a recovery password. This is a unique password that will allow you to access your account if it is lost or stolen. You can find this information online or in the Apple support document for your Mac.
  2. Reset your computer to factory settings. This will erase all of your data and settings on your computer, including your account information and passwords. If this is done regularly, it will help protect against theft and loss of data in the future.
  3. Use two-factor authentication for online accounts and services such as iCloud and Apple Music. Two-factor authentication requires you to enter two pieces of information (your username and password) when logging in: one time only, not every time you use an account. This helps protect against unauthorized access to your account if someone has physical access to your computer or knows about your username and password combination from another source
