Hotmail is a popular email service that many people use to keep in touch with friends and family. If you no longer need or want to use Hotmail, there are a few steps you can take to delete your account.
- Log into your account and click on the “delete my account” link at the top of the screen.
- Enter your name and password for your Hotmail account and click on the “delete” button.
- Your old Hotmail account will be deleted and you will not be able to access it anymore.
With a catch, you can delete your Hotmail account without a password if you don’t use it anymore. You have the option to reset your password. To complete this, however, you’ll need access to the email address used to establish your Hotmail account.
A Windows Live Hotmail account is deleted after 360 days (less than a year) of inactivity. If you don’t use your Windows Live ID for 365 days (about a year), it, too, can be permanently deleted.
To access your account, go to account.microsoft.com and log in using your login credentials. Click the Your Info tab at the top of the page. Under Help with Microsoft accounts, scroll down to the bottom of the page. Select How to terminate your account from there.
Remove accounts. remove the account by choosing it and then clicking Remove. Click Yes and OK in the new window that opens.
Consumers are unsure if Hotmail still exists. Yes, Outlook.com is now Microsoft’s replacement for Hotmail, and new accounts should be created there. However, Microsoft maintains that users may keep their Hotmail domain names.
